A casing string made up of premium threaded connection pipes manufactured by TMK was successfully lowered into a well from the Berkut offshore ice resistant stationary platform at the Sakhalin-1 project’s Arkutun-Dagi field.
The 168.28 mm pipes were manufactured at the Orsky Machine Building Plant, owned by TMK, using an integrated 3-tier quality control process, which also involves 3rd party independent inspectors. Steel billets manufactured at the Taganrog Metallurgical Plant (TAGMET), also part of TMK, were used to produce the pipes.
“The successful application of TMK’s tubular products has demonstrated the high performance offered by our premium tubular solutions to our customers. We are proud that we have once again proven our expertise in manufacturing world-class products,” said Sergey Chikalov, Deputy CEO for Technological Development and Technical Sales.
Sakhalin I is one of Russia’s largest foreign direct investment (FDI) projects and a vivid example of the successful adoption of advanced technologies and best project management practices for developing hydrocarbon reserves in harsh climates and a challenging logistics environment.
