The subsidiaries of PJSC NK Rosneft have begun pilot implementation of the first version of the RN-GEOSIM simulator intended for geological modeling and analysis of hydrocarbon deposits using three-dimensional models. The software product was developed by RN-BashNIPIneft specialists and approved for use by the expert and technical council of the State Commission for Mineral Reserves.
The development of technological potential is one of the key elements of the Rosneft-2022 strategy. The company prioritizes innovation, identifying technological leadership as a key factor in competitiveness in the oil market. Rosneft has created and is developing its own line of software for geology and field development.
The RN-GEOSIM software package is a platform for geological modeling using high-performance computer calculations. A significant difference from foreign analogues is the ability of the innovative simulator to automatically rebuild the geological model of the field as new data appears, which significantly speeds up the process of building the model. In addition, the simulator solves the tasks of interactive visualization, correlation of well sections, structural modeling taking into account tectonic disturbances, calculating field reserves and building reporting graphics.
The first version of the product will allow modeling at least 80% of the company’s fields, and in the future, with the development of the complex, the modeling processes will be fully transferred to RN-GEOSIM.
