East Siberian Oil and Gas Company JSC Drills a Record Multilateral Well

At the Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye field in the Evenki Municipal District of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the construction of a multi-hole well with four horizontal boreholes, a record for the Riphean deposits, was completed. The total length of the well is 5,280 m, the horizontal section is 2,220 m. The start-up oil production rate was 281.5 tons per day, which is several times higher than the average Russian indicators for new wells. The work was carried out by specialists of East Siberian Oil and Gas Company JSC (part of Rosneft).

Thanks to the application of an innovative method of seismic-geological analysis, during construction, a drilling efficiency of 99% was achieved. The method was developed by the specialists of IGiRGI JSC (part of the Rosneft Corporate Research and Design Complex). The new approach made it possible to design the well as accurately as possible. Multiple tectonic faults have been successfully predicted to maximize the involvement and use of the production fund.

The introduction of advanced approaches and new technologies is one of the key areas of the Rosneft-2022 strategy. The company pays special attention to innovative development, identifying technological leadership as a key factor in competitiveness in the oil market.

Well construction at the Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye field takes place in difficult geological conditions due to the unique structure of the oil-bearing reservoir. The Riphean carbonate reservoirs of the field are characterized by numerous zones of faults, fractures, leaching and other processes. The advantages of such areas are their high productivity and oil saturation.
